ATEXOR inteview ILMI from the factory

20 Years on the team ATEXOR. An interview with ILMI.

  1. How did you end up at Atexor?

Well, when I joined, Atexor was still a work in progress. At the time, the company I joined was Centeurea, maker of SLAM® Ex lighting solutions. That was back in 2001. I had been working 14 years for Nokia before joining Atexor.

  1. What brought you to Seinäjoki?

My husband’s workplace was moved to the Seinäjoki area, so that’s why I started looking for opportunities here. Centaurea suited me really well because at Nokia I had specialized in cable set manufacturing (wiring harnesses). Centaurea was a match made in heaven. The SLAM® Hornet Ex-light production needed exactly my kind of expertise at the time.

  1. How has your role developed over the years at Atexor?

When I started, we were still a relatively small company. It was a pleasure to be witness to our transformation into a well-established international provider of Ex lighting solutions. Over the last few years, I have been part of MICA® hand lamp manufacturing team.

  1. What sort of hobbies do you have?

About 15 years ago my husband and I bought an RV (small motorhome) and made traveling around Scandinavia our main hobby. The more we enjoyed travelling the more serious we got with our transportation. We are on our third RV upgrade already.

I used to do a lot of weaving back in the day, but working with your hands on the assembly line tends to wear you out. After retirement, I’m sure my idle hands will appreciate taking up my old hobby.

  1. You have a special role at Atexor, don’t you?

Yeah, it’s something that just kind of developed naturally over the years. The number of colleagues of course multiplied as we grew from our humble beginnings. I became the go-to person for organizing special staff events.

I guess my colleagues liked my event management skills! Apparently, there is some concern amongst the team about who will organize the happenings in the future. I’m down to my last days before retirement, so I am there’s only so much I can to do help ease the concerns.

  1. Have you made any retirement plans yet?

My husband and I are planning to move to northern Finland to be closer to our grandchildren. When we are not spending time with them, we’ll almost certainly be on the road travelling, maybe even in a bigger RV. Naturally, if the road takes us near Seinäjoki, I will definitely stop to visit the old Atexor family.
